Clarian Firm Offering Workplace Healthcare
The math is simple; when employees are not at work, employers lose money. Employers lose millions annually in lost productivity and increased health care costs, while employees lose money in lost wages and increased health care costs. Thanks to a new workplace health company designed by Methodist Occupational Health Centers (MOHCI), a Clarian Health Partner, there is now a way to reduce these costs.
atWORK Health Services, LLC meets the increased demand for workplace medical centers and on-site services to reduce employer healthcare costs and increase employee productivity. By combining the fixed cost and time saving advantages of a custom designed workplace medical center with the proven healthcare cost mitigation techniques of health risk management and disease management, atWORK Health Services creates a workplace total health management program.
“For many employers, decisions on local expansion or off-shoring jobs hinge on ever escalating employee healthcare costs,” said Scott Weaver, vice president of sales and marketing, atWORK Health Services, LLC. “Workplace medical centers and the total health management potential they bring allow employers to control costs while providing quality occupational and non-occupational health solutions for employees.”
atWORK offers on-site health services nationwide and currently has customers in Indiana, Illinois and Oklahoma.
“Our plant nurse from atWORK Health Services is very involved in everything we do. He has tremendously improved our case management and as a result, our productivity has improved significantly.” said Brett Blackburn, Safety Manager for Gerdau Ameristeel, Tulsa Oklahoma. “We are saving quite a bit of time and money, because we aren’t sending as many employees off-site to the doctor.”
Blackburn continued, “Our atWORK RN has the technical knowledge to assess injury and illness on-site, to treat the worker and get them back on the job. As a safety manager, having atWORK has helped me meet my goals and improve the overall health of our workforce.”
According to Blackburn, Gerdau Ameristeel has around 400 employees in their Tulsa plant, and they each benefit from their nurse’s involvement in all employee health activities. Last month following a health fair their atWORK nurse held, an employee was subsequently scheduled for surgery to remove severe blockage in his arteries. “We feel good that we may have prevented a heart attack or stroke and our employees feel good that we are helping them proactively manage their health.”
