Columbia College’s On-Site Clinic Illustrates National Trend in Healthcare

Columbia College opened an on-site clinic operated by Oklahoma-based Care ATC for its more than 875 employees, spouses and dependents March 5. The clinic at the college’s headquarters is the first Care ATC clinic in the state. It is staffed by two doctors, a certified nurse practitioner and a medical assistant.

“The hassle of seeking care under the traditional system inhibits many employees from going to the doctor until it’s critical,” said Mike DeSalle, Columbia College Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Business Affairs. “By making healthcare readily accessible in the workplace, we are able to monitor chronic issues and catch illnesses at the earliest stages to delay or prevent major complications.

On-site Health Clinic Opens March 5

The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Care ATC On-Site Medical Clinic on Wednesday, March 5, for all employees, and dependents, covered by the Columbia College Health Plan.

You can now call the clinic to set up an appointment. Please note that while walk-ins are welcome, in order to provide you with prompt medical attention we are requesting that you always make an appointment, even if it is a same-day appointment request. This will avoid encountering the typical crowded waiting area that you may experience at your doctor’s office and allow the doctors to spend adequate time with each patient.

To make an appointment, please call Care ATC at 800-993-8244. Also, request your Care ATC login information so that in the future, if you prefer, you can make appointments online at www.careatc.com. (click here to download appointment scheduling instructions).  Your first visit will take approximately 30 minutes because you will be asked to complete a new patient information form; subsequent visits will not take as long. Keep in mind that you still need to follow your department’s procedures for requesting time off, but you no longer have to take off a whole day of work because you have a doctor’s appointment.

Humble Independent School District Opens Care ATC On-site Clinics

As insurance and health care costs spiral upward and employers look for ways to minimize the impact on their operations, the national trend of providing worksite medical care continues to grow.

The Humble Independent School District’s decision to contract on-site clinics for its employees illustrates this trend in businesses across the nation. Humble ISD is located north of Houston and is one of the state’s largest school districts.

Tulsa-based Care ATC and Houston-based TriSurant introduced new on-site physician clinics in Kingwood Dec. 1 and in Humble Oct. 1.

The number of organizations who offer on-site medical services has increased significantly in recent years. Nearly one-fourth of large businesses reported offering on-site medical services at the end of this past year, according to the non-profit National Business Group on Health. Another six percent reported they plan to open clinics in the next year.

Zeeco Opens Care ATC On-Site Clinic

Zeeco employees no longer have to leave the office for a doctor’s visit. Their employer hired Tulsa, Okla.-based Care ATC to create an on-site physician’s clinic.

The clinic, located on Zeeco’s campus at 22151 E. 91st St., opened its doors Oct. 1 to all employees and dependents covered by Zeeco’s health plan, which is more than 500 individual participants.

“This is an incredible benefit to our employees and their families,” said Darton Zink, CEO of Zeeco. “This is a more feasible and cost-effective way for them to participate in annual exams or to see a doctor during the cold, flu and allergy seasons. We want our employees to be as happy and healthy as possible.”

The 1,000-square-foot clinic, equipped, staffed and managed by Care ATC, features a medical exam room and a lab. Care ATC provides Zeeco employees with a doctor and a nurse during scheduled hours each week. When employees use the clinic, they do not pay a deductible or co-pay. The service is completely free and is offered in addition to the employee’s regular health benefits.
